AURORA’s sixth biennial exhibition takes place on November 16, 2024 at Dallas City Hall and surrounding areas. Titled FuturePresentPast, it is curated by New York City-based artist and curator Kendal Henry and Austin- and Mexico City-based curator and writer Leslie Moody Castro. Together they work with regional and international artists to realize an expansive exhibition of technology-based public art.
With FuturePresentPast as the biennial theme, Henry and Moody Castro look into the past and various shared experiences of North Texas in order to reflect on our future through the present. Bridging disconnected communities, health advocacy, environmental sustainability, and urban transformation as a result of displacement and migration are some of the topics that will be addressed in the biennial.
MIDNIGHT MOMENT
ARTISTS
Midnight Moment is the world's largest and longest-running digital public art program. Presented nightly to millions of viewers each year, Midnight Moment showcases the work of contemporary artists on one of the most iconic public canvases — the electronic billboards of Times Square.
FuturePresentPast will feature the debut of Midnight Moment outside of Times Square, marking the first time this iconic public art event has traveled beyond New York City. This nightly phenomenon will transform the Dallas skyline during the sixth AURORA Biennial with works by nine artists.
