Danielle Georgiou Dance Group (DGDG):
Match Point
Performance
MATCH POINT (2024) is a public performance involving dance, clown, athletics, and interactive elements. Set to the score of Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, this four-part performance follows a group of athletes as they navigate distinct misinterpretations of the game of tennis. Why tennis? Because this sport is a test of boundaries, a constant give and take of conversation and effort, and a battle between two sides.
Performance schedule:

Bio
Danielle Georgiou Dance Group (DGDG) is an ensemble-based, collaborative dance theatre group. Exploring the experimental and avant-garde nature of contemporary dance and physical theatre, they create dance plays and musicals. In 2020, 2017, and 2015, DGDG was selected as Best Dance Troupe by the Dallas Observer, and in 2016, as Best Dance Company by the readers of D Magazine.
DGDG has been directed by Dr. Danielle Georgiou since 2011. Dr. Georgiou is a first-generation Cypriot-American artist working in performance, dance, film, sculpture, and installation. Her work incorporates pop culture references and mechanically mediated techniques to explore contemporary gender dynamics, the personal nature of identity, and the complexities of vulnerability, deformity, and beauty. The resulting, ever-growing body of work is organized around transforming images of the self and producing unique, individualized portraits. Dr. Georgiou has gained local and national recognition for her work as a performer, director, and choreographer, as well as national and international recognition as a visual artist, with her work exhibited in Texas, New York, California, Florida, Crete, Scotland, Germany, Canada, Italy, and Cyprus.
