In light of today's (fake) news headlines, twisted perspectives forced on open minds by friends and family members, and the countless, foundation-less arguments floating around social media platforms, So-So Topic combined visual and performance art to give a spoken word performance. On a platform roughly 40 feet in the air, So-So Topic addressed the intense sociopolitical climate faced not only in the United States but all around the globe.
Active as a self-taught hip-hop artist, producer and spoken word performer, So-So Topic makes beats for rough weeks and rhymes for hard times. Based out of Dallas by way of Alberta, Canada, his unfiltered voice addresses everything from religion to peer pressure, money and the constant day-to-day struggle to stay sane. He has shared stages with Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), Talib Kweli, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Danny Brown and Rapsody, and jammed with Erykah Badu, the Cannabinoids and Thundercat in collaboration with Red Bull Sound Select. He is currently working on two studio albums and, with Marquis “KoolQuise” Warren, is producing a television series ironically titled Going Nowhere Fast!
