Guests are also welcome to explore Mandela: The Official Exhibition at the African American Museum. This major exhibition about the life of Nelson Mandela features personal artifacts, multimedia installations, archival photographs, and interactive experiences.
Lakeem Wilson is a Dallas-based artist, curator, and community arts leader whose work explores cultural memory, Black identity, and everyday life through drawing, painting, and exhibition making. He is Associate Curator at the African American Museum of Dallas and the creator of Life in Black Ink, an ongoing body of work centered on large-scale, black-and-white ink drawings that document the beauty, rhythm, humor, struggle, and spirit of Black life. In addition to his studio practice, Wilson curates exhibitions, leads public art initiatives, develops community-centered workshops, and creates cultural programming throughout Dallas. He is also the cofounder of Sky Blue Gallery alongside his wife, Simone Wilson, where they create exhibitions, workshops, and community-driven art experiences rooted in culture, storytelling, and social impact.
African American Museum of Dallas
The African American Museum of Dallas is a beacon of culture, history, and art dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of African Americans. Founded in 1974 by Dr. Harry Robinson, Jr., the museum is the only institution of its kind in the Southwestern United States. It houses one of the most extensive collections of African American art, artifacts, and historical archives, offering visitors an immersive journey through the contributions and experiences of African Americans. Located in the heart of Dallas, the museum serves as a vibrant hub for education, community engagement, and cultural enrichment through dynamic exhibitions, programs, and events that inspire and inform.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- 10–10:50 am: AURORA has partnered with the African American Museum to present a community gathering event. Participants should arrive no later than 10:50 am to take part in the quest.
- 11 am: Teatro Dallas perform to reveal the first clue.
- 11 am–12:30 pm: For this driving quest, participants need a car to follow the clues performed by Teatro Dallas and search for clue cards hidden throughout the neighborhood. The first to collect and present all clue cards wins Lakeem Wilson’s artworks.
- 12:30–2 pm: The community celebration continues with a musical performance by Dezi 5, seven community partners, artist meet-and-greets, art activities, and complimentary food and drinks.

CÓMO PARTICIPAR
- 10:00–10:50 a.m.: AURORA se ha asociado con el African American Museum of Dallas para presentar un evento comunitario. Los participantes deben llegar a más tardar a las 10:50 a. m. para poder participar en la actividad.
- 11:00 a.m.: Este año, Art Quest incluye un elemento teatral en colaboración con Teatro Dallas. A las 11:00 a.m. en punto, presentarán una actuación para revelar la primera pista.
- 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Los participantes necesitarán un vehículo para seguir las pistas presentadas por Teatro Dallas y buscar las tarjetas de pistas de Art Quest escondidas por todo el vecindario.
