Join us for an insider’s look at the AURORA Biennial 2026 with curators Julia Kaganskiy and Tairone Bastien.

DATE: Thursday, November 20, 2025; 6 pm
LOCATION: FLOCC (606 N. Edgefield, Dallas, TX 75208)
Register here to attend

Julia Kaganskiy and Tairone Bastien will introduce themselves and discuss their curatorial practices, joined by Joshua King, AURORA Co-Founder and Executive Director, who will offer insights into AURORA’s work as a public art organization and share the vision shaping next year’s citywide public art event.

The conversation will be moderated by Nancy Cohen Israel, a Dallas-based art historian, writer, educator at the Meadows Museum, and founder of Art à la Carte. Don’t miss the chance to hear what to expect for the next edition of North Texas’ largest public art event, taking place across Dallas from November 1-21, 2026.

Julia Kaganskiy is a New York City-based curator and cultural strategist working across art, science, and technology. A leading voice in the field, she helped launch several groundbreaking programs, including NEW INC (New Museum) and The Creators Project (VICE/Intel). Her curatorial practice explores the potential of art as a key interlocutor of emerging science and technology. Most recently, she served as Curator-at-Large at LAS Art Foundation in Berlin. As an independent curator, she has worked with 180 Strand (London), Matadero Madrid (Madrid), Borusan Contemporary (Istanbul), Barbican Centre (London), Eyebeam Center for Art & Technology (New York City), House of Electronic Arts (Basel), and many others.

Tairone Bastien is a Toronto-based curator, writer, and educator. He co-curated the first two editions of the Toronto Biennial of Art. As a curator at Performa in New York City, he co-organized the first three editions of the biennial dedicated to live performance art. His current research, ‘A Feral Commons,’ examines the ecological impact, needs, processes, and visual languages of public art and art-making in the Global South. Previously, he established Alserkal Avenue’s art program and the Alserkal Residency in Dubai, and curated projects with Delfina Foundation, Shubbak Festival, Art Dubai, Dhaka Art Summit, and Samdani Art Foundation.
