Tina Medina’s Pandemic Pachanga (2021) is a performance/video portraying the claustrophobic and uncertain atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, as a mother, Medina felt obligated to maintain a positive, clean, and enriching home for her children, which became overwhelmingly difficult to achieve. The burden of isolation on her family tested their strength, turning life into a crazy dance that continues to this day. Her bodily movements symbolize both the chaos of life and the energy of a rowdy party, or “Pachanga.” Her artwork stands as a small testimony and a broader truth about motherhood.
