Light Sculpture
Entre Piedras y Copia (2024) is a series of twenty light-filled sculptures made of clay. While they are copies of a stone, the name also references two streets in El Paso, Texas, that run parallel towards the border. Entre Piedras y Copia evokes memories of the neighborhood where Ramirez grew up. His sculptures explore form, color, and light with a curiosity about the imperfections and adaptations of material.
Bio
Hector A. Ramirez is an artist from El Paso, Texas, currently based in Fort Worth. In 2020, he earned an MFA in Sculpture from Texas Christian University and currently teaches at the University of Texas at Arlington. Ramirez has exhibited in multiple solo and group shows around the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, as well as in New York City, Berlin, and Hiroshima. Some of these shows include a UTA faculty exhibition, a show at Blind Alley in Fort Worth, and an exhibition at Aurora in New York City. Ramirez was also featured in The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s Modern Billings. Most recently, his work was published in Artillery Magazine.
